DTN MORNING COMMENTS: Due to plant submission issues USDA summary reports
have been delayed, but will be released as soon as possible. Bids and asking
prices have yet to be established, and significant trade volume will likely
be delayed until later in the week. Beef cutouts are higher at midday (choice
395.61 +1.27, select 373.94 +1.86) with light box movement (28.42 lds of
choice cuts, 2.35 lds of select cuts, 6.24 lds of trim, and 5.18 lds of
ground). Live cattle futures at midday are moderately to sharply higher,
while feeder issues are all sharply higher.
DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP: The bulk of trade took place late Friday last week.
Southern live deals were done at $258 to $260, $2 to $5 higher than the
previous week's weighted averages. In the North, a few dressed sales sold
early in the week in Iowa at $410, but the bulk of trade on Friday for
Nebraska and Iowa was completed at mostly $408, $3 higher than the prior
week's weighted averages. A regional in Nebraska paid $409 for some steers.
Keep in mind that the bulk of trade took place late Friday afternoon, after
the mandatory cutoff, so it will be interesting to see just how many cattle
moved and what the average prices will be when summary reports are released
in a couple of hours. According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle
Negotiated Purchase Summary reports the weekly accumulated weighted averages
were recorded as: KS $No test($255.77); NE $405.00($404.97); TX $No test
($255.42); IA $405.00($404.62). (the prior week's weighted averages are
listed in parentheses). Again, due to the late week trade, the averages
listed will not be accurate when compared to what the actual weekly averages
will be when summaries are released a little later this morning.
The Friday afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-date
trade volume totals as: KS 35; NE 1,349; TX 18; IA 709. These totals will be
extremely different when the weekly summaries come out. According to the
Daily Livestock and Poultry Slaughter Report, Friday's slaughter totaled
95,000 head, even with the prior week but 13,000 head below a year ago.
Saturday's kill was estimated at 5,000 head, bringing the weekly total to
526,000 head, 2,000 more than the previous week, but down 32,000 from 2025.
The weekly average for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice
$395.48(+2.78), select $375.47(+0.13), with an average choice/select spread
of $20.01(+2.65), a total load count including cuts, trimmings, and grinds
was 463(-85), (Changes from the prior week are listed in parentheses).
For the week ending June 13, 2026, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the U.S.
totaled 59,447, 102.36% of the previous week and 105.25% of the 4-week
average.

subscribers in the interest of general cash market awareness. All cattle
feeding subscribers are encouraged to report sales in a timely fashion, to
compensate for the systematic delays of mandatory reporting. While all
transactions will be posted on an anonymous basis, callers are required to
identify themselves and the location of the actual sales. DTN believes this
data to be accurate but cannot guarantee its specific reliability or whether
it fairly represents the larger cash market.
Feedlots are encouraged to email DTN with any cattle sales at
linda.nellson@dtn.com. All sales will be listed anonymously and organized by

Sales Reported to DTN page and will be left up for the entire week for
reference purposes.
